Monthly Permaculture Meeting for May 2014

At the home of Pat and Andrea Johns

Event date: 5/18/2014 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Export event

The May meeting will be held 5/18 (which is 1 week earlier than the normally scheduled meeting).  We have a couple projects to work on (weather and time permitting).

Also, I'll be passing out some ollas (number dependent on how many I get fired).  Here's a link to a YouTube video describing how ollas are used and various ways they can be made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkNxACJ9vPI.   Mine do not use any glues.  They are made from terra cotta clay on the pottery wheel and are once fired to a low temperature so they remain permeable to water.  I'm considering making ollas for sale and would appreciate any feedback on how they worked in your soil and/or planting situation.  They are widely used in desert areas, particularly in Mexico and Africa.  I'd like to understand how well they work in a temperate climate before I go into full production.

We're also hosting a potluck that day.  We will be providing beverages.  Please bring a picnicky sort of food.  We'll eat outside, if weather permits.

Join us May 18th at 1 PM at our home: 12621 E Valleyway  Spokane Valley, WA 99216

I'm really sorry to miss the meeting again! And would love to see your outside spaces (spent most of my time staying warm in the barn last time, lol). Unfortunately I have a standing meeting on the 3rd Sunday of the month so I'll have to miss. Hope its sunny & warm!
