Gonzaga’s Environmental Studies Department will host a free public presentation titled “Agriculturally Supported Community: How Growing Food Together Makes Justice Real” on Monday, March 30th in Wolff Auditorium from 7-8 pm. Join urban farmer and educator, Josh Soltnick as he reflects on 15 years of community farming. Drawing up his experience in ecological horticulture, the Peace Corps, as a family farmer, Josh founded the PEAS farm in Missoula, Montana. As a partnership between the University of Montana’s Environmental Studies program and a local non-profit, the PEAS farm functions both as a CSA and as an educational resource for students from elementary school to college graduate programs.
ATTENTION: There will also be a workshop on Tuesday, March 31, from 10:50 - 1:00. Click READ MORE for more information.

Join us February 22nd (4th Sunday meeting) at 1:00PM for a hands on workshop. Cara Hagar will demo how to butcher a chicken. Anyone who wants to (and brings a chicken to butcher) will have a chance for hands on participation. The workshop will be held at the home of Pat and Andrea Johns. If you bring birds to butcher please withhold food for 24 hrs prior to butchering. It's important for the crop to empty prior to butchering. Do not withhold water.

Geez, who’s hosting the permaculture meeting for our group this month? What, it’s us? Uh oh!!!
Seriously now, we, the Hagars, are happy to host the meeting this month and we sincerely apologize for the late notice. Hopefully since we regularly meet on the 4th Sunday of the month, you've all just been waiting to see where its happening! In celebration of the growing year winding down, we’d like to start it a wee bit later in the day and make it a dinner barbeque. We’ll supply the burgers and fixings, and you supply a side dish or dessert, and BYOB.
It’s too hot in the afternoon to make you work, so instead we’ve got several topics we’d like to tour at our place before we eat. They include:
◾4 small food forests, in various stages of growth
◾A new water collection system in its initial building phase, with 3 x 865 gallon tanks
◾Lessons learned in the food garden (those damned stink bugs!)
