Apparently, slipping charcoal to your chickens is a centuries old practice for happy chickens and better nutrient retention in the manure.

About 20 folks attended. It was cold, sometimes windy. The sun poked out for brief periods, much appreciated. The fire helped.

Friends of Polly Judd Park (1802 W 14th St, Spokane) are moving ahead to install a combination community garden and food forest. This biochar workshop is in support of that intent. Build a fire and they will come.
