WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

 

 

Instructor:  Jim Adkins, founder of the Sustainable Poultry Network, has a passion for poultry and people that shows in his business.  He is an internationally renowned poultry judge who has traveled the world since he created the International Center for Poultry in 1992! 

 

Jim started his poultry interest in 4-H in the southwestern portion of Washington State. Since that time, Jim has raised over fifty breeds and varieties of standard bred poultry including chickens, ducks, geese & turkeys. 

 

 

Workshop participants learn how to; 

  *Identify true heritage poultry

  *Optimize your facility, feed, and forage

  *Select heritage poultry for production

  *Standard poultry best breeding practices

Sjang Van Dal of the Netherlands is coming to the Sandpoint, ID area to give a workshop on how to build a Rocket Mass Stove and heated tub.

The workshop is for anyone who heats with wood, loves the comfort and beauty of a wood fire and wants to work 1/2 as hard to put up a winter's worth of wood.

Fresh Start Community Garden Spring Work Day

Come get your hands dirty at our garden!

WHAT KIND OF WORK:  Spreading mulch, adding compost to beds, raking leaves, turning the compost piles, and general site cleanup.

WHAT TO BRING: Lunch, water bottle, gloves, shovels, large and trash bags. Some snacks and drinks will be provided.

Garden Location: 11202 E. Mission Ave. Just south of Valley Mission Park behind the parking lot on the south side of mission.

Parking: If the parking lot south of Mission is closed, please park in the Splashdown Pool Parking Lot. Then walk through the gate on the east side of the parking lot south of Mission.

What is going on: Gardeners' Gala - Electro Swing Benefit Show is Spokane Valley Partners Community Gardens spring outreach event and fundraiser held at nYne in downtown Spokane. The event is being held to raise funds for the construction of our second community garden in the Edgecliff neighborhood and to help fund our backyards garden program. This event is 21+.

The event features , a live gypsy swing band, dance group, and Electro Swing DJ to round out the night on the main stage.
