Goat Husbandry for the Backyard and the Small Producer

Pine Meadow Farm Center

Come and receive an introduction about how to raise goats for milk, meat, fiber, weed control or simply companionship. Or, if you already have goats, come and share what you know and possibly learn new tricks. Whether you have just a small backyard or larger acreage, you could move a step closer to self-sufficiency by joining the world-wide goat rearing crowd.

Season Extension Workshop

Building and Using Floating Row Covers, Wire hoop and EMT low tunnels and hoop houses.

As a follow-up to my SPSG presentation Thursday, April 18, I will host a hands-on workshop (and Social Event) to demonstrate and help people build season extension tools like low tunnels on Sunday, April 21st at 1pm (the day after Earth Day). To share our experiences and the tools we have purchased, we will demonstrate a variety of tools and techniques that we will be experimenting with this year including:

  • Floating Row Covers
  • Low Tunnel Hoop Houses (a variety)
  • High Tunnel (walk-in) Hoop Houses
  • Large Moveable Green Houses (Pine Meadows Farm Example)

Then from 3pm-?, weather permitting, we have open community social time with whatever beer, wine, & treats everyone wants to bring to share, and time. This will give us all a chance to get to know each other, bend more hoops or just hang out.
